About Us...
At MemVideo we provide a service for people who love to watch movies.
Just think, how many movies does the average person watch in a lifetime?
The casual viewer who may attend a movie theater, see movies on the TV, rent them occasionally or watch one with
friends probably sees several hundred movies in their lifetime. The movie enthusiast will likely see over 1000.
Yet how many can they remember - let's hazard a guess: maybe 10-20 of their favorites,
maybe the names of a few of the worst ones.
For such an activity which consumes so much of our time and provides us with laughter, tears and sometimes cathartic
release, we ought to have a better way to keep the memories fresh.
MemVideo offers such a much-needed service.
We are not trying to compete with the many major movie web sites which offer
expert movie reviews and a broad video database of their offerings, quite often with a commercial angle. Our focus is the viewer and our aim is to help you keep your thoughts and feelings about the movies you
watch preserved within your private MemVideo database. (By the way, your interface with the database is as simple as marking a checklist and adding brief comments, See an example below).
Here you are the expert! It's your ratings which carry the most weight and your comments and reviews which will help you remember
the experience long into the future. Also it's useful to keep track of the losers so you don't waste time watching
them again.
The Economist.com reports that in 2003 Americans spent $22.5 billion on DVD's and and videocassetes (VHS) compared
to $9.2 billion at the box office. DVD's with their superior video and audio quality, durability and ease of use
represent the future as compared to VHS, at least until another standard comes along.
How many people own DVD and VHS movies and do they know what they own without going to the shelf and having a look?
Here again, at MemVideo we offer a simple means to keep track of your private inventory.
Our movie database contains several thousand titles and continues to expand with member input, growing dynamically.
Besides your personal video database, we also offer many extra informational features.
We invite you to try out our MemVideo service. But first you must Register and log-in to create and access your personal video information.
Following is an example of the My Videos page showing a Member's personal database. Please don't take the comments seriously,
it's just an illustration of the user interface:
